Decorative tattoos have been in existence for literally 10s of thousands of years.
Today, 1 in 3 Americans have one or more tattoos.
Among millennials, almost half have tattoos, and the Generation Xers are reported to have a tattoo incidence of about one-third. With all these people getting tattoos, one can imagine that the number of people who have changed their mind about keeping a tattoo is getting to be quite large.
Reasons for getting a tattoo are almost as varied as the tattoos themselves. Some of the decisions are impulsive, some tattooing the name of a family member or loved-one, a favorite band, vacation spot, animal, religious symbol, or virtually any design or picture a person can conceive of can be translated into a tattoo.
The reasons for wanting it off can be just as varied. We change our mind about things all the time: what we wear, what paintings we put on our walls or where, our jewelry or watches, etc.
